OPAS Field Trip: Dungeness Bay – Shorebirds, Gulls, and Water Birds. Saturday, August 2 | 7:30 AM
Location: Meet at the Three Crabs Parking Lot Leader: Bob Boekelheide
Fee: Free (Registration required). Explore the rich birdlife of the Dungeness Bay mudflats and estuary during peak shorebird migration. After exploring Three Crabs Beach, the group will visit Dungeness Landing County Park. A great trip for birders of all levels—bring a spotting scope if you have one! Tour de Lavender – August 2, 2025
Cyclists are invited to experience the beauty of “America’s Provence” during the Tour de Lavender on Saturday, August 2. Riders will travel through the picturesque Sequim-Dungeness Valley, passing vibrant lavender farms and enjoying stunning views of the sea and mountains. The event features two ride options: a 35-mile Fun Ride and a Metric Century. After the ride, participants can relax with delicious food and drinks in the beer garden. The ride begins and ends at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club and supports the Olympic Discovery Trail.

Draw Comics with Kristin Varner – August 2, 2025
Join award-winning graphic novelist Kristin Varner for a free, all-ages comic-drawing workshop on Saturday, August 2, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Olympic Peninsula Academy, located at 400 N 2nd Ave in Sequim. Presented by the North Olympic Library System, this engaging event welcomes participants of all experience levels to explore their creativity through comic art.

Surf, Skate, & Snow Exhibit – Ongoing through September 7, 2025
The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center presents Surf, Skate, & Snow, an exhibit running from July 18 through September 7, open Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This dynamic show highlights the intersection of sport, design, and artistic expression rooted in the natural landscape. Featuring work from regional and national artists—including early ski culture pioneer Esther Webster—the exhibit celebrates the creative energy inspired by board sports and outdoor movement. Admission is by donation and free for PAFAC members and students.

Music in the Park – August 5, 2025
Enjoy a fun-filled evening of live music at Music in the Park on Tuesday, August 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the James Center for the Performing Arts in Carrie Blake Park. The featured band, Black Diamond Junction, is known for energetic, dance-worthy performances that cover a wide range of favorites—from The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac to the Doobie Brothers and Linda Ronstadt. Bring a blanket or low chair and enjoy the show; leashed dogs are welcome. Local vendors NW Cold Treats and Underdog Hot Dogs will be on site with refreshments. Admission is free and the event is family-friendly.

Floral Design Workshop with Sofie’s Florist – August 7, 2025
Refine your floral design skills at this hands-on workshop hosted by Sofie’s Florist and the North Olympic Library System on Thursday, August 7, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Olympic Theatre Arts Center. Participants will learn how to create seasonal arrangements using locally grown or foraged materials from the Olympic Peninsula. The event includes a demonstration and the chance to try foliage weaving. This free workshop is part of the NOLS Summer Reading Program and is made possible by support from local Friends of the Library groups.

7th Annual River Center Charity Golf Tournament, Saturday, August 23 | Check-in at 8:30 AM, Location: The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course, Sequim

Wednesday Morning Bird Walks at Railroad Bridge Park. Every Wednesday | 8:30 AM. Location: Meet in the River Center parking lot. Join a dedicated group of birders for this ongoing citizen science effort—24 years and counting! These weekly surveys offer a great way to observe and learn about bird species of the north Olympic lowlands. Bring your binoculars and enjoy a peaceful walk along the Olympic Discovery Trail.
