About Pioneer Memorial Park

Pioneer Memorial Park is an important piece of Sequim’s history as it was Sequim’s first community park. It was established in 1951 through the hard work of the Sequim Prairie Garden Club with the help of other service groups and volunteers. The park hosts an arboretum that includes a large stand of Garry oaks. There are also plantings that include ancient rhododendrons, shrubs, and perennials. Picnic tables and garden benches are also located throughout the park, many donated by pioneer families. The site is also home to many historical artifacts such as an 1893 hand-hewn log cabin. The park originated as Sequim’s first cemetery but had to be abandoned due to flooding. Headstones remain for pioneers whose family members could not be located for burial transfers.

Pioneer Memorial Park is a beautiful 4-acre park and clubhouse in the heart of downtown Sequim, maintained by the Sequim Prairie Garden Club. The clubhouse and grounds provide a lovely setting for meetings, parties, weddings and family reunions or arts and craft shows. The clubhouse, with a 90 person capacity, provides access to tables, chairs, a kitchen with two ranges, restaurant coffee maker and a refrigerator. There at no steps and the bathrooms are ADA accessible.

We want to give Pioneer Park the support it needs to continue being a thriving center hub for our community to enjoy for generations to come.

Thank you for helping us give back to our community!
